LUC Safety Procedures for Operating under Covid 19 Alert level 3

  • If any adult or child has any of the COVID 19 symptoms as stated on the Ministry of Health website, they will not be allowed entry into the center. See guidelines at https://covid19.govt.nz. Symptoms includes:
    • a cough
    • a high temperature (at least 38°C)
    • shortness of breath.
    • sore throat
    • sneezing and runny nose
    • temporary loss of smell
  • Please sanitize your hands in the carpark on arrival and when leaving.
  • Contactless thermometers will be used to check all adults and children in the carpark.
  • Indoor temperature will be maintained at the minimum of 18 °C at all time
  • We are encouraging physical distancing in the most respectful and kindest manner possible for our children to understand. We encourage everyone to use the friendly east coast wave or hand wave to greet each other.
  • Resources, furniture and toys will be regularly sanitized during the day.
  • Our Center will be deep cleaned daily by commercial cleaners
  • Only resources that are easily cleanable will be used, we will avoid soft toys and dress ups.

LUC Safety guidelines for parents/whanau and visitors

  • If any adult or child feels any of the COVID 19 symptoms as stated on the Ministry of Health website: https://covid19.govt.nz they will not be allowed entry into our centers. You should then contact Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or your GP, for your next steps, before returning to our centers.
  • If you start to feel any of the COVID 19 symptoms prior to the pick up and there is no alternative option available, then before arriving at the center, please call our centers on (09) 480 2734 Infant & toddler / 480 2732 Preschool to let us know.
  • During Alter level 3, We are unable to allow parents access to inside the center, one of our teachers will assist the children from the carpark into the center.
  • We encourage only ONE family member to do pick up and drop off.
  • Upon arrival, please bring your child to the car park where a teacher will greet you, apply sanitizer, check temperature, ask about symptoms and sign in.
  • At pick up time, please wait in the carpark, one of the teachers will be bring your child and their belongs to you. If they are not out in 5 mins, please call the center.
  • Keep a record of who is in your bubble and everyone who you come into contact with.
  • If any parent is found negligent, puts anyone at risk, or fails to follow our rules and Ministry of Health guidelines, then their enrolment will be cancelled and we may be required to report them to the Ministry of Health.

LUC Safety guidelines for all employees

  • All staff will be taking extra precautions that they are staying inside their home bubbles as much as practical. If at any time they begin to show or feel COVID symptoms, they will not be allowed entry into the center. They should then contact Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or their GP, for the next steps, before returning to our centers.
  • Sanitize hands on arrival and when leaving the center.
  • All staff to read policy handbook and familiarize themselves with the pandemic and cleaning policy.
  • The following resources will be temporary removed: playdough, soft toys & dress ups. If unsure, please check with management.
  • Gloves will be worn when preparing and serving food and drinks.
  • Each child will be supervised when washing hands before and after eating.
  • Sharing food and drinks in the staff room will be stopped until further notice.
  • Preschool children will be encouraged to apply sunscreen themselves. Gloves will be used when applying sunscreen and changed for each child.
  • All pacifiers will be named and kept in container with Milton sterilizing solution for at least 15 mins prior to giving to the child, this solution will be changed daily
  • Keep a record of who is in your bubble and everyone who you come into contact with.
